A few Interesting Men

Well… so another year has passed… it seems just the yesterday when I wrote ‘Ravindra Jayanti’ on my blog on the same day last year (No, his int’l form did not improve, he still got chance of playing for India limited overs team with relatively poor returns but his Ranji form is special as always and he did get his 3rd FC triple ton in his last match to make himself in the same bracket as Sir Don)!!
So, the last one year was busy with loads of change in life and career path. Now I have an alternate career option of becoming a cook in case someone throws me away from my current job.
I am writing a lot more than last year and also playing a lot of online FIFA.
I have a small, neat place for me to stay in Bangalore, a city which I do not think very highly off. But with Kanad and the other office guys the weekends are enjoyable and food experimental.
In short, if I ignore the physical distance with my parents and my girlfriend the life for me is good and I appreciate the way it treats me.
Now, it’s cool to post something in your blog on your birthday and not always u can come up with a ready topic!!
So, I went to Wikipedia and asked for its help and I could get a list, a list of 216 so called famous people who is sharing birthday with me.
Now, I have to accept that not many famous people were born on 6th December. There’s no one like Sachin Tendulkar, Amitabh Bachchan or Barack Obama who share his birthday with me. For me I have mostly unknown celebrities!! But still some of them are worth mentioning!
There are a few monarchs whose birthdays are on this day but the most interesting one is Henry VI, the king of England for 40 years between 1422 and 1461 and later for another year in 1470-71. A peaceful king, Henry VI later suffered with bout of insanity in his later age! It explains some part of my behaviour, isn’t it?
Then there is Warren Hastings, the first governor general of British India, who ruled from 1773 to 1785 and whose ghost most famously visits the old Hastings house on the night of 31st December of every year!!
There are other army generals, politicians, poets and actors having 6th December as their birthday. None of them very famous except may be Sekhar Kapoor for Indians with his movies like Mr. India.
The list includes a lot of composer (19!!) including the great German composer Johann Christophe Bach. I guess they have taken all the musical expertise and left me with almost none!
Interestingly, there is a mass murderer by the name of Richard Speck who killed 8 student nurses in 1966, so you better be careful when dealing with me!
There are also some mildly famous sports personalities born on this day. English cricket and Boxing fans should cheer the birth of ever entertaining Andrew Flintoff! There are also two other interesting English batsmen born on this day, debut centurion Frank Hayes and Peter Willie, the later also became a successful umpire post retirement.
The last two entries are two Indian cricketers, one of them obviously the enigma Sir Ravindra Jadeja, one of the most hated Indian cricketer in the world. The other one is the fast bowler RP Singh whose lack of line and length at times converted ‘RP’ as ‘Raw Pace Singh’. Still he has a few great performances including the 2007 T20 world cup win in South Africa where he was also the highest wicket taker during IPL-2. His last test appearance was a joke when following Zaheer’s injury in England the puzzled and panicked selectors called up a fat, unfit RP from his holidays and he delivered as he should with 34 wicket-less overs.
So, all you guys and also many others who are having their birthday today, Happy Birthday and have a blast!
There are some important events on this day and I will be back with another piece next year for sure!!
